Eczema symptoms can cause your skin to peel and feel very hot. This disease is not that unusual compared with other skin rashes. The development of eczema is believed by some to be “all in the family”. Simply put if your mother had eczema and you have eczema it is quite possible that your children may have eczema.
The causes for this uncomfortable skin disorder are not fully known as yet but that does not the traditional symptoms from recurring every year. Some people only have “flare ups” during the spring time. So like clockwork when April comes the eczema begins to exert its influence. A reddened patch in certain parts of the body. Itching. Blisters. Some even report getting lesions.
Now it is important to resist the urge to scratch your spots. This will challenge you to no end because the natural reaction to the itching is for what? To scratch of course. If you do scratch or if your children scratch those red areas it makes your condition get worse.
Try applying some over the counter (OTC) ointments like Calamine lotion. Or even a low concentration of hydrocortisone cream. These work wonders for calming and promotion of healing as fast as possible. You’ll likely need more than one application so don’t be fearful of dosing it more frequently.
Also, with children they really like the application of a cool compress. Even adults enjoy this as well. All you have to do is take a basic wash cloth and run some super cool water over it. Wring the wash cloth to get rid of all excess water and apply the compress over the red spots. Some people have many spots rather than one central area. In that case just repeat the same process for those spots as much as you like. Be sure to do this before applying the lotion or ointment recommended above.
Should your symptoms persist you can consult your CVS or Rite Aid pharmacist. They have a host of literature about skin rashes and disorders ready and willing to provide the information and directions you need before seeking an expensive physician visit.
